You must pass the PRINCE2 7 Foundation Certificate and provide proof in order to take the PRINCE2 7 Practitioner examination.

PRINCE2 Foundation Exam

The PRINCE2 Foundation exam introduces the PRINCE2 method. It is designed to assess whether you can demonstrate sufficient recall and understanding of the PRINCE2, as described in the syllabus.

  • Duration: 60-minute, closed-book exam
  • Number of Questions: 60 questions
  • Passing Score: Answer 36 out of 60 questions (achieve 60% or above)

PRINCE2 Practitioner Exam

The PRINCE2 Practitioner exam assesses whether you can demonstrate sufficient application and analysis of the PRINCE2 method.

  • Duration: 150-minute open-book exam
  • Number of Questions: 70 questions
  • Passing Score: Answer 42 out of 70 questions (achieve 60% or above)

To take the PRINCE2 Practitioner examination, you must provide proof of having passed one of the following:

Please ensure that before you book an exam requiring a prerequisite, you hold verified proof of completion (i.e., a certificate or letter from PeopleCert or a former Examination Institute confirming you hold a current certification).

Your examination results will be withheld until the correct prerequisite is provided to PeopleCert. If you cannot provide the required prerequisite, you will need to complete the prerequisite before the higher-level exam result is released.

We recommend you read the PRINCE2 7 Official eBook before your course. The PRINCE2 materials can be accessed two weeks before the course.

The Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2 7 eBook with your exam voucher will be emailed to you and can be downloaded via the PeopleCert portal.

During the course, two hours of evening study each night is required.

You will receive two exam vouchers and a link to register and schedule your online sessions with the PeopleCert web proctoring service. You will take your exams after you have completed your training course. Visit the PeopleCert website for more information on the logistics of taking your web-proctored exam with PeopleCert.

The PRINCE2 7 Foundation exam is a 60-minute, multiple choice closed book exam. There are 60 questions, and the pass mark is 36/60 (60% or above).

The PRINCE2 7 Practitioner exam is a 150-minute open-book exam. There are 70 questions, and the pass mark is 42/70 (60% or above).

Learning Tree will set up the Take2 option for all attendees for publicly scheduled course events when we order your exam voucher. If you aren’t successful on your first exam, you will be notified by PeopleCert that you are eligible to register for the exam retake.

Unfortunately, those who attended a course before 2023 and attendees of private or closed training events are not eligible for this benefit unless this has been pre-agreed.

Though exam vouchers can cost hundreds, there is no additional cost to you to sign up for the Take2 re-sit programme. Take2 is an additional complimentary benefit offered to you by Learning Tree.

Yes, you must re-sit the exam within six months of your initial exam.

You have two choices. You can sit the re-registration exam every three years or join the AXELOS Professional Development Programme and complete Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, where you earn a digital badge that shows your skills and practical knowledge are current.
