AgilePM v3 Is Here: What You Need to Know

If you are pursuing AgilePM certification, you’ll want to take note: Agile Project Management (AgilePM) has been refreshed and relaunched as Version 3. This update aligns AgilePM with evolving Agile, project management, and business practices. The refresh was driven by user feedback and the need to introduce new features and techniques while removing outdated ones. This ensures that AgilePM remains relevant and effective in today's fast-paced project environments.

Let’s take a look at what’s new, what’s changing, and what it means for you.

Why AgilePM Was Refreshed

AgilePM was first introduced in 2010, and by 2025, over 250,000 professionals worldwide had become certified. But the world of project delivery has evolved rapidly, and so has the demand for frameworks that better reflect modern Agile values, multi-team environments, and the increasing integration of methods like Scrum, DevOps, and Agile Digital Services.

Version 3 addresses this by:

  • Focusing on value delivery, not just outputs
  • Emphasizing leadership and stakeholder collaboration
  • Incorporating Scrum as the product delivery engine
  • Strengthening support for complex, multi-team environments

What’s Changing in AgilePM v3

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Updated Syllabus and Exams: Both the Foundation and Practitioner certifications have new content, structure, and updated sample papers available now.
  • Scrum Integration: Scrum is now a core component of the delivery engine within AgilePM v3.
  • Greater Emphasis on Leadership: Version 3 focuses heavily on empowering project managers as agile leaders.

A major update to AgilePM in the new version is the emphasis on delivery value over products. The shift to delivering value ensures that projects meet the actual needs and goals of stakeholders. This approach focuses on outcomes that provide real benefits, making sure that every project effort contributes to significant improvements and tangible results.

AgilePM v3 Course Scheme

The previous AgilePM certification was structured around two segments: Foundation and Practitioner. With Version 3, a new Scrum Essentials segment has been introduced to better support modern agile delivery practices. Learners can choose to complete each segment individually or opt for a comprehensive 5-day course that covers all three in one integrated experience.
