What is this course about?ISO/IEC 20000 supports the adoption of an integrated process approach that allows organisations to demonstrate excellence and prove best practices in IT service management. In this course, you gain the knowledge and skills to audit ITSM systems in compliance with ISO/IEC 20000. You learn how to define and explain (ITSM) principles, assess eligibility, applicability and scoping principles, and evaluate the requirements for pre-audits, formal certification audits and surveillance audits.
You also take the ISO/IEC 20000 Auditor Certification exam, given on the final day of class.
What background do I need?A minimum of three years of experience conducting audits in an IT environment, as a third-party auditor or as an internal auditor for an organisation, is required to attend this course and take the ISO/IEC 20000 Auditor Certification Exam on the final day. The ISO/IEC 20000 Foundation Certificate is recommended to attend this course, although it is not required. An ITIL® service management qualification is also helpful, but not required.Who will benefit from this course? This course is valuable for third-party or internal auditors who need knowledge of the specific requirements for auditing ITSM systems within the ISO/IEC 20000 standard. What is ISO/IEC 20000?ISO/IEC 20000 is an international IT standard based on the IT infrastructure library (ITIL®) best practice framework. The adoption of ISO/IEC 20000 has grown rapidly in the international arena of IT service providers and has become a competitive differentiator for delivery of IT services.
The standard consists of two parts: the specification of mandatory
requirements (part 1) and the code of practice containing guidance
and recommendations (part 2). There is also a part 3,
which contains scoping and eligibility guidance to be used
when planning implementation of the standard.
This course refers to parts 1, 2 and 3, with the emphasis
on part 1. Part 1 was revised in 2011 and part 2 will be revised in 2012.
What version of ISO/IEC 20000 is covered on this course? This course covers version 2011 of the ISO/IEC 20000 standard. ISO/IEC 20000 allows organisations to demonstrate excellence and prove best practices in IT service management. It promotes the adoption of an integrated process approach to effectively deliver managed services to meet business and customer requirements.
